Blunt Force Knee Injury

Day 65: Karaoke

Yesterday I was eating delicious, and that dog ... un.

Okay, stupid pun. hundun (混沌) is a Chinese dish: minced meat in a crust in soup or sauce. Very tasty. I could not resist the pun, however. Now to the topic:
Karaoke

Yes, we were there again, this time it was the idea of some Chinese, who were friends with the parallel class [sic] . Was not bad, this time we are in a different karaoke (KTV
Haoledi ") left, which looked similar but noble, and from within. But me and some Chinese, two Laotinnen (Nam & Peggy) were my Sinhala roommate Thilina that but really all in his Chinese name 李瑞 CIMG4110 (Lǐ RUI) call what I will do from now on also, and Takumi, and the Vietnamese (Hoa), the geklortten with us on the Xishan climbed. It was really funny, and the Chinese came in for a surprise out that I can sing Chinese songs. ^ ^ The drop, however, was a bit strange, and strangely enough have a lot of songs (including many Japanese) does not work, another had no subtitles. Was not quite as enthusiastic. the evening (oh yeah, we were there in the afternoon!) But I am drawn back to the two Laotinnen gene Uni, as there is a kind of Thai-Lao-Chinese cultural event / party was announced on the 4th Floor of the cafeteria building (Incidentally, there's no ground floor in China, so that corresponds to our 3rd floor) . I did not expect such a huge number (> 200?) People expected, and even with a theater-like structure and a stage show, but Chinese, Thai and Lao people have all sorts of dances, skits and songs performed, including moderation. Was actually pretty cool, the whole thing. Among the dancers was Mhuey (aka Ampawan), with which I have also done after a photo, but unfortunately the camera to someone else. Maybe I'll add it later here. ... and why? Yes, because my camera again

is broken! Bitch, miserable. This is now the third time, every time directly or after a visit to KTV. Why? Thank God I'm still under warranty. After the 2nd Time I was back at the same Reperateur, the thing which has also adopted the same. He was convinced it was the (really have become thick) battery, for screwed and taken out to let the lens control with external power. He sold me for 85 yuan a new battery for about 4 hours and the part went well. Now I know it's not the battery. My plan: I will let the camera soon be repaired for the last time, then buy me a new one. Let's see ... The weather here in Kunming is currently being goofy, because of 四季 如 春 (
Si Ji Chun ru
, 4 seasons like spring), there are 9 ° C out there and there is virtually nowhere a heater (not in our rooms, even in the classroom), we freeze our asses off all. Me too. I decided to spend the day in large part on the bed.

Visors For Lacrosse Helmets

III Day 55: Climbing the Xishan

Wandering is the miller's joy!

... but also the Sandanuwans, the Hadas, the Inabas, the Udomsins, the Trinh and the Lis. 3 days ago - so at day 53 - we have our plan to climb the Xishan, into action and have went with 7 people. The Xishan , 西山 to German "West Mountain" or "Western Hills" (Chinese has so usually no plural) is a Bermassiv in the west of Kunming. I was with Haiyan been there close to

temple visit. The Xishan itself is located 2511 m above sea level, that is 614 m above the average height of Kunming. This affects the mountain not too high. The whole mountain is - how should it be any different in China - for tourism commercialized and there are small restaurants, paved roads and highways, and smaller temples, markets with kitsch, and even a cable car that leads upstairs.

Shortly after 9 clock in the morning it started, one of the party Amila (Sri Lanka) were Takumi (Japan), Mr. Inaba (Japan), Latthana (Laos), Hoa (Vietnam), myself ( Esperantujo
Germany) and later still Haiyan (China added). Theoretically, two Koreans and a few Thais have mitgesollt latter
could (or wanted to - because we're not sure) unfortunately. By bus we went to the nearest bus stop (高 峣, DSC00745 Gaoyao ), from there we took the streets and roads high on the march. Really roads (albeit not pass through tight), no walks and forest trails. Nevertheless, in the forest. Along the way gave it to me-not, what did my fellow students (including Chinese) yet. Especially Takumi was extremely surprised. The climbing was at least for me very quickly the air out - that perhaps an effect of high altitude? The view was quite nice, we were already halfway up the foot of the Xishan lying Dian Lake (滇池, Dianchi
) see, the sixth largest lake in China. And you could see something from Kunming. What obstructed the view, unfortunately, and this can be seen in the photo also good, the weird hazy air over the city. Uncanny is in relation to German cities such as Leipzig (Altenburg or ☺) to see: a haze above the entire city and will probably also be the reason why late night pink colored the sky easily appears. Kunming is in itself but a very clean city, as compared with Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Tianjin, it is said to me at least accessible. But if you do not grad is on the highway, which Kunming is actually breathable air, I have no complaints about it.
DSC00781 On our trip up there was about half way up suddenly something like a small village or a market where all sorts of bells and whistles has been offered for sale. Highwayman, I mean, women and men tried along the way are constantly in their small restaurants or snack bars to lure one we are then followed to ... close it was. 10 minutes later we arrived in a courtyard in the Old and Young table tennis (funny: 乒乓球, pīngpāngqiú
), pool and Mahjongg (麻将,
májiàng ; rules DSC00782 here) and playing cards. We ordered rice and meat and vegetables, and waiting for people to Mahjonggspielen been watching. This is where so as soon as I'm envious. At some point I will also play again, here. The food itself, as it then was, was really very delicious. You can China really not comfortable with tasty unit (there's that word?) Suggests . Unfortunately, I'm from there no picture, so here next serve a picture of a small temple in the caves needs: it is der 真武殿 ( Zhēnwǔdiàn ), was auch immer das bedeuten mag ("Tempel der wirklichen Kampfkunst?"). Leider sind wir nicht wirklich Once at the top, but near the top, well ... The descent was a bit difficult, and I went mainly to the knee, ouch.
Because we got back so late (after 20 clock) into the dorm and nausea were broken by the Long March
(or should I say DSC00701 Journey to the West ?), We had nothing to eat. But there was a surprise at the door: two boxes of rice and noodles for me and Takumi from Pornsupa and Suttida! They have also served for Amila. Thank you dear, Thais! =)

still a mess the way: my camera is broken again, same error: the lens is jammed. I still have warranty (Ie a free repair in the next 3 months), will therefore hinmüssen again. Does it then broken again, I'll buy me buy another. present here is the way a bad virus how it seems, has Thilina's first and hardest hit, he lay flat for several days and had every day for 'ne injection into the university hospital. Then Takumi was in it, it's always going to something bad. This was followed Suttida, Pornsupa and me. Today I was not in teaching, I was soft in the warm, recovering from bed. Now it's a little better.
here is the way the first question, when you say that you are sick or not feeling well, always (
Nǐ yào chi le ma?
) = Have you taken medicine?
A little news yet: I said goodbye to crying eyes from my German-Chinese Anki deck. There were just too many words per day, I had to get rid of one. Since my deck
Chinese for German 1 +2 come for the past two months, no more new words (ie, I'm by all), I do not again repeat the old and concentrate on my other three vocabulary deck (two Chinese, a Thai).

Mount And Blade Patch 1011

Note: Due is now fixed issues with LiveJournal this entry a little late. I have written him two days ago. Since then, is also essential, nothing happens ... long not heard of me, huh? Here's an update of my life in small bites:

    KARAOKE!
Haha, for the second time, this time with the Thai people (4 in number). That was pretty funny, but unfortunately not as great as with the Chinese, as the Thais only one or two songs in Chinese and were even a few English songs. Most of the time I sang along with Takumi and Amila. Songs in Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, English, even one in Russian and one in English (La Bamba
  • ! ) I have found and sing! We were in it until the next morning, and are then walked home. Karaoke 's funny ... especially the videos for the songs. Sometimes it is the original video, but especially in western library's are often very different things: landscape photographs (some from Germany and Switzerland!), In a song by Elton John CIMG4067 (gay) were I've seen scantily clad woman on a Auto stretched to see some videos from YouTube or imitation seemed to be so, while the Beatles a totally funny bad copy of the band members sang apparently playback. What is stupid is happening: my camera broke down: the lens was not pure, to be out, she stopped at about 3 × zoom. (

  • A day later we have the Thai girls for dinner at the next room (the invitation of Tik and Muay) there was any, sharp objects, less sharp things, tasty things and nasty things. with probes to it (shrimp). Serve with rice. Was very tasty and very fond of them, we too have something to dinner (her) contribution, that cantaloupe. is the's in a fruit market around the corner for pretty cheap money. too hot pot we were before A few days ago to eat with the Thais, but a very similar event

    I've already reported.
  • IMG_2244 6 days ago I had a lot of time and wanted to library to project for
  • ASJP
compile some word lists. Prepared everything, laptop made clear lack of languages in Ethnologue fished together and on our side and a note and then went off: the Bibo to the holidays! Mess.
  • have 5 days before me Huang Jin (黄金) taken from where I one day had reported before. He studies so, like me,

  • linguistics and lives in a neighboring dorm. He asked me if I can help him with the pronunciation of some IPA sounds, I'm doing exactly that. That was pretty funny and we have all along spoken Chinese, although he very good English (with British accent!) can. Now he can say Implosive, clicks, and ejectives (so less) and I know how to
    palatal
  • , aspirated and lip rounding says in Chinese. The mine has helped then a day later than their second Haiyan "German Lesson" was. Last Friday, Haiyan helped me with my camera problem. In a shop (more of a garage without a car) we have finally found someone who would repair my camera for 180 yuan, which could then Haiyan Handlen down to 170 yuan (U.S. $ = € 18.40). Half an hour later came the call, the camera is ready! Everything went great, the zoom went back and I've got 3 months warranty. But should I change my battery, as is gradually thick. I'll make soon. Later we were in a small fast food shop, learn German, as I said. Haiyan has a German book, but still has to struggle with the pronunciation. My suggestion to learn Esperanto, hit her in the wind: one does not need is boring and also too easy. Too bad. ;)

  • way, I've recently seen a Chinese man with a baseball cap to look at the big a black swastika (

  • 卐) on a red background was. What is clear is the swastika, a Buddhist symbol, but it is also
  • a known (he) is Nazi symbols. In the two temples I've visited with Haiyan, was the sign to see every now and again, but to see it on a baseball cap is a bit weird. I've learned quite a bit lately Thai of Tik (aka Suttida), recently I got from their conjunctions, negation and asked for some aspects / tenses, so now I can actually have an enormous say. My vocabulary is estimated at about 100 ~ 200 words. Ditransitive rates are interesting, but I write about it once in a separate entry über die örtlichen Sprachen.

    Kapibara-san
^ ^ A small drawback is that it does not squeaks when pressed on it. But you can not have it all. Today we had quite a problem (O-Ton Thilina:
  • ! "Big Problem"
) with our toilet. It was clogged and there was no means of rinsing, which align with the mop, so we called the plumber (quasi the Chinese version of Mario & Luigi). After long repair measures then everything worked again. And not only that, now comes from the tap even hot water! What a luxury!
  • Our new Newspaper reading teacher is terrible. She talks quickly criticized us constantly, has a very unfriendly way in itself and requires far too much or too fast a lot from reading us. It explains almost nothing, but is rather along the lines before "? If the proposition is clearly no one says anything, well, next sentence"

  • When I asked for some unexplained words, it was said afterwards that I was indeed intelligent, but lazy, because I do not think about yourself, what could match. But not always help the context. I do not like the woman. I was the "old" teachers prefer.
  • Finally: If a German and a Japanese two cantons senses in China into a Korean restaurant

and speak English ... Unfortunately, the joke has no punch line, but it happened today. And again it was very tasty as you can imagine on the photo. I'm still full. Overall, each of us have paid for full bellies hitting just 49 yuan, which works out at € 5.30. In Germany they would have well-paid three to four times that! I almost think that might be the best restaurant in Kunming ... to find out about where the
  • Location tag this entry hinverweist. CIMG4093 I should write more often! But I'm doing well, and my Chinese is improving slowly but surely. With some people I can talk quite fluently, while others I still barely understand.

Day 40: Fun with the Thai girls

In the last week actually happened is not much that would be worthy of its own entry, but it was beautiful.
We have a new course in newspaper reading teacher: Ms Jiang (姜), who speaks very good Mandarin, but much too fast. I understand very little, although I realize that it speaks very clearly. The effect that I understand some people better if they talk faster seems, so far only a few people to act (eg, Haiyan and her friend Qinghua). What else is new ... Takumi has recently slept 14 hours, how does he do? Furthermore, I was eating with Haiyan in the Box Bar
kebabs. Yes, they have the right Turkish Doner Kebab
German! However, he is not quite as in Germany, even if it costs the same ... very small, few vegetables, tastes of soft bread and meat are also slightly different. Find out more, including photo, later times in a separate entry on the Chinese food. ^ ^
I found out that one of our Lao people actually listened to the Miao minority and actually
Bai speaks Hmong - unfortunately we have 3 dialects of this language in ASJP, presumably his. But I think even out yet. Also, I've got a Chinese made, The studies here at the University of Khmer ... did not know that this here also. My parents have booked the flight: that is, becoming next year between May and June, I travel with them together by China. That's why I let longer trips away for the month because I will still see the whole place anyway. By the way, there's now a Turkish students in the same class, from İstanbul, I had him referred to the same restaurant Salar, perhaps even their languages are mutuelle intelligible. ;)

But I did a lot with the Thais, lately. The girls had even invited us to ever

fire pot dinner, now we have it like them done and they even invited - the same restaurant, because there's so delicious, cheap, and was also practically. We have four guys pay for us and the 5 Thai girls, which cost 109 yuan (11.86 €). Speaking of Thai ... Suttida (aka Tik
, the bespectacled girl in the photo) now bring me in Thai, that is, as a linguist I elizitiere just individual words and sentences and tinker me so my spelling and my grammar together themselves. The latter is quite as expected unkomplex and is somewhat similar to Chinese and Indonesian, listen out the 5 tones, so I've still problems. But I can say quite a bit, and my sentences - as I am assured - always grammatically. After the fire pot meal (火锅, CIMG4049 huǒguō ), we are all still pulled in a bar, drank, sunflower kernels nibbled (# 1 snack food in China!) and later even played drinking games. Was very funny, but no one was badly drunk. Oho! Funny, I think, incidentally, that every Thai has a (usually) one-syllable nickname, which is somehow more important and common than generally here in Germany or Europe. I have no nickname for example, the hot Thai girls for five (in IPA transcription): [tics], [muǎj] [Technology], [ʔɯ ː aj]
and
[bo ː] . Penultimate sounds like it had to be passed straight. Yesterday we were back on the road with the Thais. They have invited us to a fairly sharp food in the north of the city, but it is still tasty. After this we were by the Thai veterans (they are much longer here in Kunming than us) in another specialty CIMG4063 been Wiehen inaugurated 鸡蛋 粑粑 ( parishioner baba ), a type pancake puff mixture with Bananenmus and egg inside of it in hot oil and rolled on top with icing, served in convenient Portionen. PS: If you feel rushed can, in the following few days another 90 MB large video download, the a Japanese classmate (Mr. Inaba) has put online, simply click on the image, it's really worth seeing :
